Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; non-exempt classification. |
Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the Supervising Carpenter or designee, the incumbent is responsible for the full range of rough and finished skilled carpentry work. Incumbent works from blueprints, specifications, drawings and instructions to build, remodel, maintain and repair various types of facilities, buildings, offices, classrooms, restrooms, sheds, scaffolds, forms, frames, fences, and other structures; installs, builds and repairs internal and external structures, installs and repairs dry wall, ceiling and floor tiles, and roofs; makes cabinets, counters, shelves, benches, partitions, floors, and door and window frames; hangs doors and installs windows; assists in making concrete molds and structures; makes rough sketches of repair work; may install and repair modular furniture; advises in the selection and storage of building materials; inspects completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations; estimates cost, time and materials for carpentry projects; participates in the maintenance and operations of a carpentry shop; cleans, maintains and services tools and equipment used in the performance of duties; performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures; maintains a safe and clean work environment; maintains records and retrieves data related to work performed using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems; and prepares standard reports and consults and works with other trades workers. Although precautions are taken, the work may involve exposure to hazardous materials such as lead and asbestos. Performs other related duties as assigned. |
Required Qualifications & Experience: Any combination of progressively responsible training and experience as a journey-level California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As such, the University requires all employees upon date of hire to reside in the State of California. As of January 1, 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California. |
